‘In Parenthesis’ is a series sculptural works inspired by the WW1 poem of the artist and poet ‘David Jones’. The works are constructed from coppiced hazel, found wood and objects.
Top image: Biez Copse Yew (detail) Yew The artwork was influenced by paintings and an exhibit in the Imperial War Museum. The shattered trees in the WW1 trench paintings by Paul Nash and other war artists along with a bullet riddled dummy tree stump used as a forward observation post.
